IN MEMORIAM: Hadj Mohamed el Attar
(1940 - 2024)
Today we mourn the loss of “El Hadj” who was the elder son of Djinuin Hadj Abdesalam el Attar who was the leader of The Master Musicians of Jajouka. Although Bachir was chosen by his father to succeed him as leader of The Masters, El Hadj Mohamed el Attar was a Master Musician who travelled with Bachir on the earlier tours in the 1990s before he had to retire due to old age. In this photograph he plays in Munich, Germany on the same day as the fraud in Ireland regarding "The Here to G0" Show where Bachir and his group were falsely advertised along with the Bill Laswell record. Instead the real group played with Ornette Coleman in Germany at Arts Project "92. Here he is playing with Bachir Attar and Ornette. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and the Master Musicians of Jajouka.
